Momentum-2009: Dept.of Mechanical Engineering
2009, held on 4 th April 2009 was inaugurated by Dr.M.N.Sathyanarayana, Scientist G, Jiont Head, Knowledge & Technology Management Division, National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore, Dr. S,M. Shashidhara, Principal, S.I.T, Tumkur and Prof. Basavarajaiah Dean (Planning & Development), S.I.T. Tumkur were guests of honor. Dr.M.N. Channabasappa, Director,S.I.T., Tumkur presided over the function.
The valedictory address was delivered by Sri D.R. Subramanya, Managing Director, Fitwell Tools and Forging Ltd., Tumkur. Dr.S.M. Shashidhra, Principal, S.I.T. Tumkur, Prof. Basavarajaiah, Dean (Planning & Development), S.I.T. Tumkur were the Chief Guests. Dr. M.N. Channabasappa, Director, S.I.T., Tumkur presided over the function.

BROWSE-2009: Dept. of CSE, ISE & MCA
Browse-2009 a National level Technical Symposium was held on 6 th April-2009. It was inaugurated by chif guest Dr. C.P. Ravikumar, Technical Director, University Relations, Texas Instruments, India . Students from various engineering colleges participated in technical events like, Paper Presentation, Programming contest, Technical Quiz, Cyber Etymology and Gaming contest. Departmental news letter “ISYS'' was released by the chief guest.
Valedictory function was presided by Director Dr.M.N. Channabasappa, Guest of Honour and Principal Dr.S.M. Shashidhara, President of Browsw-209 Dr.N. Nalini, Dr.M.A. Jayaram, prof. & Head, Dept.of MCA Dr. Y.S. Nijagunarya, Prof. & Head, Dept. of Computer Sc& Engg. And student co-ordinators were present. Programme was concluded by distribution of prizes and cultural events.
Rachana-2009: Department of Architecture
Rachana-09 was celebrated on April 17 th 2009 with the concept-REFLECTION. This was an event to welcome the First Year students. The function started with Inauguration in the morning. Formal, Casual and informal events were spread through out the day. Many students had opportunity to showcase their talent and creativity and Won Prizes. Cultural Event in the evening comprised of skits, dance and music, which were colorful.
Centurays-09 was organized from December 4 th to 10 th 2008. The Art symposium started with the inaugural function by Sree Sree Siddalinga Swamigalu and Shatavadhaani R. Ganesh. Thuis symposium was dedicated to the centenary celebrations of Dr. Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamigalu.
The symposium was a weeklong workshop, where in 15 National and International artists participated and did spot paintings and murals. Nearly 50 paintings were presented to the college

AICTE Sponsored Staff Development Programme on “Advanced Materials and Materials Procesing'' (8-13 June,2009).
A week long Works shop on Advanced Materials and Material Processing sponsored by AICTE was organized by the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering from 8 th to 13 th June 2009.
The Course content was on Advanced materials and their processing. Composite Materials, Hybrid Composites Smart Materials, Shape Memory Alloys, Solidification, Grain Refinement, Advance Manufacturing Processes, Non Traditional Machining, Laser Beam Machining, Water Jet Machining, and Electron Beam Machining.
The Programme was attended by faculty members of 26 Technical Institutions of our state.
Dr.U.S. Mallik, Professor in Mechanical Engg. Was the Chif Co-ordinator andDr. Virupaxi Auradi was the Co-ordinator for the programme.
One week faculty development programme on Materials and Processing for faculty to non-autonoous engineering colleges sponsored by V.T.U. was organize by the Department of Mechanical Engineering during Dec. 14-18-2009.
MMR and MASS Spectroscopy Theory, Instrumentation and Interpretation
A seminar on the above topic was organized by our institution Co-Sponsored by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka during April 10-12,2009. Dr.S.Badami received the grant as a convener. 44 delegates from Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh, 20 of our staff members and 22 of our M.Pharm students participated in the seminar.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. MD Karvekar, Dean, Pharmacy, RGUHS, Bangalore. He narrated the importance of the topic in the structure elucidation of molecules and the need to learn the techniques from the experts. It is one of the interesting subject and easy, only if understood and taught by experts. The number of experts in the country in the field is reducing day by day with elders getting retired and young staff not showing much importance. The field is applicable to all areas of research and if one becomes expert, he can achieve wonders, he said. The programme was presided over by Mr.T.M. Swamy, Industrialist, Tumkur, spoke about the industrial applications and entrepreneurship.
